MC 3 Changes – STILL ON!

Well, it’s been an interesting past hour here.

I’m sure everyone heard about the fire on Carnival Splendor a bit back. It was expected that the ship would be repaired and not affect our event. That changed today. Carnival has made an announcement that the ship will not be repaired in time.

That announcement can be found here.

Our options are pretty limited. We can move to another ship on the same date at another port, or cancel outright. All the hours and work Ashley at All About Travel and I have put into this, makes canceling a *really* hard call. So… we’re not doing it. Carnival has a ship with room for us leaving Galveston Texas. We’ve got it on hold right now. All cabns will transfer at the same size/amenities they were booked for, right now (this is the ONLY ship we can do that, 3 other boats are scheudled to leave port accross teh country on teh same day but this is the only one with room for us!).

Carnival will reimburse flight change fees, and protect the price we had on the “old” cruise moving to the new one. You may have to pay a bit more if your flights to Galveston (Houston airport) are more expensive than they were to LA, but the change fees will be covered. Ashley will help facilitate all of that as best she can. In the letter there is mention of a 25% credit on a future cruise, but that won’t apply to us. That will only apply if you opt out of this cruise and want to rebook on a later cruise.

The new ports will be Cozumel, Jamaica and Grand Cayman Islands. Some of these will be repeats for folks, But wow does it seem better than straight up canceling! So MC3 is still on! Those of you who booked already will be contacted by Ashley to confirm switching. it is *vitally* important that we get confirmations from all passengers by tomorrow close of business as we have to confirm our entire cruise (all 90+ of you!) on Friday. If you are already booked on the MC3 cruise (or are interested in it now that it’s leaving Galveston!), you can contact Ashley at 605-339-8916. Do her a favor and call her if you can, she’s got a lot of calls to make in a short period of time and the less calls she has to make the faster we’ll get this squared away!

Life’s an adventure!

Steve

Here are some blurbs about the new ports:

Montego Bay, known as “Mo’ Bay” to the locals, is Jamaica’s second largest community. Gorgeous white-sand beaches and mangrove wetlands surround the old town, which rests at the bottom of lush green mountains. Montego Bay offers the best of the Caribbean, including beautiful Georgian architecture in the historic town of Falmouth. Surround yourself with the essence of Jamaica in the island’s friendliest city.

Grand Cayman, kissed by sparkling, turquoise waters, is a dream come true for water sports enthusiasts. You can snorkel with stingrays, go scuba diving, sail a catamaran, take in some sport fishing, or just mellow out along the powder-soft sand of the magnificent Seven Mile Beach. While you’re there, don’t forget to visit Hell, which is devilishly popular with senders of postcards.

Long before Cancun became a popular destination, Cozumel was well-known as a diving spot and home to the world famous Palancar Reef, which gives divers the opportunity to view thousands of brilliantly colored fish. Non-divers can kick back on a sun-drenched beach, or enjoy any number of seaside activities, such as shopping in colorful marketplaces or dining in an open-air café.

  1. Do we have a new MT3 schedule for the new cruise? Or can we rely on the old one and just substitute ports of call?

The times for the cruise itself are different, so if anyone gets a chance to post or email participants the new full itinerary/schedule…it would be very much appreciated :^)

  2. Hey guys. Somehow missed the notifications on these comments, possibly a little busy 🙂 I’m working on the site changes right now. wanted to wait till everything was confirmed and full on. Should have updated schedule within the hour.
