Many of the midwest folks, and quite a few others thanks to us running the Sides at Magic Pro Tours, are familiar with my scrolling pairings software. the original software was written by Jim Tweig about 8 or 9 years ago to give us a way to better use our fairly restricted store space for PTQs at the original Misty Mountain Location on Monona Drive.

It evolved a little, but then Jim got a real life and the updates stopped.

Back to back awesome this weekend in the Minneapolis area!


Misty Mountain is hosting it’s last large Magic event in it’s current location, we move to new digs at the end of June (along with a name change to Legion Games!). So come out and help us say goodbye to Misty North before they tear the building down later this fall!


Midwest Masters Series Qualifier is on Saturday with registration at 9. Top 8 qualify for the MMS Championship at Gen Con, along with winning 4 day passes! Top 2 Qualify for the TCGPlayer $75,000 championship at Wizard World Chicago, Aug 11-14th.


Sunday take your shot at the Pro Tour Philadelphia Qualifier. Registration at 9am starts at 10!


We’re also running a Grand Prix Trial for the Kansas City Grand Prix during the afternoon of the PTQ on Sunday That event will be Sealed format and begin around 3pm.

I just tweaked the Friday night event at GP KC, changed format from Standard to Sealed and added WotC Promo cards to the prize list, with a promo card for every participant!


I also added a Commander event for Saturday afternoon featuring a From the Vault: Exiled and Elder Dragon Vaults as prizes!

We’ll be hosting a Midwest Masters Series on Saturday afternoon for those of you who’d rather play standard. The top 8 of that event each qualify for the $10k Championship at Gen COn PLUS they get FREE 4 day Gen Con passes PLUS the top 2 are qualified for the TCGPlayer.com $75k championship at Wizard World Chicago the following week.


In Addition to passes through the MMS, if you get paired up throughout the weekend against Gen Con’s Scott Elliott you’ll earn a free badge to Gen Con as well!


I’ll have a complete lineup of all things made by Legion Supplies as well, so if you’re having trouble finding them in your local area, come to KC and pick up those Zombie sleeves or that Elder Dragon Vault box you’ve been looking for! The EDVs I have will be in VERY short supply, the run is a complete sellout to distribution at this point, except for the small amount I kept back for GPKC and Gen Con!

Today is the cutoff date for the official room block at Grand Prix Kansas City. Rooms are $119, and they are large. The hotel is attached directly to the venue, no 20 minute drives from the event hotel to the event venue either, stumble out of bed, punch the elevator button and BOOM you’re at the GP! We’re only 3 weeks away from GP KC!!!!!

After much debate, and a lot of deep thought. I have decided not to run an MC4 at this time. The decision has been gut wrenching and have thought about it a long time. With all of the other things going on for me right now, I just don’t have the energy or resources to give the cruise. I thank you all for being loyal supporters, and if/when I get the wherewithal to make MC4 happen, I will make sure to let every one know!

This weekend We’ve got a back to back Standard Event weekend with an MMS Qualifier on Saturday and a PTQ for Philly on Sunday! Saturday afternoon (about Round 4 of the MMS) we’ll have a trial for the MMS Series as well, get a few points for your qualification and lock a bye for the next MMS Qualifier!


All the events are standard Constructed and are both being held at the beautiful Monona Terrace. Registration begins at 9 each day with Round 1 beginning at 10am, plenty of time to get there early on saturday and hit the farmers market before we start! There are plenty of hotel options on each side of town. Few hotels in town are more than 15 minutes away from the venue, and there are a few in short walking distance right downtown.

Due to me being an idiot. Evan Erwin’s flight was misbooked for tomorrow instead of today. that means he’s not going to be here saturday. I called to change the flight and was told in one case that I couldn’t because the time was too close to the departing flight, and in another that it was going to be over 800 to make the change.


My apologies to anyone who was planning on coming to see Evan on Saturday. Please come back Sunday (or just come out on sunday if you have to pick a day) to see him. he’ll still be there Sunday till 4pm.

I’ve updated the side events (they’re all open to the public, so calling them public events, just seems silly!) and a bit of other information including details about the Longbox we’re giving away to every player in every side event we run (while supplies last, but I got a LOT of them!)
